Halo Retrospective Part 3 Halo 3

Halo Retrospective Part 3: Halo 3

Halo is a game that many people love to use our modded Xbox One controllers and our modded Xbox 360 controllers with and as huge fans of the series, we wanted to look back at the history of Halo!

Halo 3 (2007) Xbox 360

Released in 2007 and the first Halo game on Xbox 360, Halo fans were very excited to finally get back in the saddle as Master Chief once again. This was said to be the last part of this chapter of the Halo story and it was truly epic in its scale. The idea was that both the evil Covenant Empire and the Flood would be put to rest once and for all, but like any good sci-fi story there was a ton of twists and turns along the way. One thing that was really cool about Halo 3 was the way part of the story was set on Earth! It was kind of awesome how this huge intergalactic war would have a huge part of t settled on Earth.

The campaign could be played with up to four players and each player would be a different character, so not everyone would have to play as Master Chief. Thanks to the power of the Xbox 360, Halo 3 had a huge leap in terms of its presentation, it at the time was one of the most impressive looking games on the console. Most people felt that the campaign was far better than what Halo 2 offered and most were pleased with the way things ended.

Multiplayer was awesome and it was one of the biggest games on Xbox Live, with over 1 million people playing in the first 24 hours alone! Halo 3 was a huge success and one of the biggest selling games on the console. For many people, this still is the best game in the entire Halo series!

The History Of Gears Of War Part 3

The History Of Gears Of War Part 3

Take down the Horde of Locusts coming your way with our awesome modded Xbox One controllers and our modded Xbox 360 controllers as you look back on the history of Gears Of War with us.

Gears Of War 3 (2011) Xbox 360

Gears Of War 3 was the what many of us thought was the end of this fantastic series and it was the end of this chapter in the story. To say that Gears Of War 3 has an epic story is a huge understatement. It is not just the Locust that is a threat, but the Lambent infection that is spreading all over Sera.

Now, this is a big, loud and bicep pumping action story, but the characters are so well written and voice acted that you really do care about them. You are on a quest to find Marcus Fenix’s father who may hold the key to stop the Locust once and for all. One thing that has to be said is that despite being a story about a macho bunch of guys, Gears Of War 3 has one of the most heart breaking moments of any action game.

The power of the Xbox 360 was used really well to bring this story to life with incredible presentation and set pieces that really did blow us all away and make us feel like we were playing a part in a movie.

As well as having a great campaign, Gears Of War 3 also had a huge selection of multiplayer modes. It was by far one of the most played games on the Xbox 360 and something many people have fond memories of. Epic kept many of the popular game modes all the while adding new ones, new weapons, and more customization options.

Gears Of War 3 is a masterpiece and at the time, we felt it was a great send off for Marcus Fenix and the rest of his squad.

The History Of Battlefield Part 10 Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam

The History Of Battlefield Part 10: Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam

Battlefield is one of the most popular FPS games in the world and a game that our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers make even better. Lock and load as we look at the next installment of our history of Battlefield series.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam (2010) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC

Ok so this is not a whole new game, but rather an expansion of Battlefield Bad Company 2, but many people agree that Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam is one of the best expansions to a first person shooter of all time. It was released in December 2010 and interestingly could be bought in a store in an actual game box. The thing was there was no disc in the box, only a download code!

Set during the Vietnam War, Dice absolutely nailed it. The game featured fun, close quarters combat across five brand new maps with lots of new weapons and 6 new vehicles. They really captured the time period very well and the expansion was a huge success.

Dice really went all out for this. They recorded a ton of new dialogue for the expansion, but best of all was the soundtrack. Dice went above and beyond with the soundtrack securing all kinds of 1960’s music, it is estimated there are around two hours of music in the game! It really does help add to the experience and you could say that even today, Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam has the best soundtrack of any game in the Battlefield series.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 Vietnam is a fantastic expansion with many people at the time actually preferring this to the original Bad Company 2 multiplayer!

The History Of Battlefield Part 9 Battlefield Bad Company 2

The History Of Battlefield Part 9: Battlefield Bad Company 2

Our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers work awesome with the Battlefield games and today we are looking at another gem from the Battlefield franchise.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 (2010) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC

EA Dice released Battlefield Bad Company 2 in 2010. The way to think of the game is a squad based shooter that is set in the modern day. EA had huge success with the first Bad Company so this game was highly anticipated.

Even after what happened in the first game it is realized that only this team of bad asses can go in and get the job done when a special operative is trapped behind enemy lines. What starts as a search and rescue mission quickly gets out of control and the story takes many twists and turns. The story in Battlefield Bad Company 2 was very well received and many said at the time it was the best in a first person shooter. Each mission had different objectives and you really felt like it was you against the world.

Multiplayer was a ton of fun and new copies of the game came with a VIP pass that would allow access to future DLC. This was a way that EA felt they could combat people buying their games used. Conquest, Rush, Squad Rush and Squad Deathmatch are the four game modes that were included in multiplayer and the squad based gameplay of Battlefield really came into its own and it was one of the most played games of 2010 across all platforms.

The History Of Battlefield Part 8: Battlefield 1943

The History Of Battlefield Part 8: Battlefield 1943

We are back with another installment in our history of Battlefield series! A series of games that you can really dominate if you check out our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers.

Battlefield 1943 (2009) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

The second Battlefield game released in 2009 was the downloadable game, Battlefield 1943 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, a PC version as planned, but was canceled. This at the time was the most popular downloaded game ever!

Players would be either part of the US Marine Corps or the Imperial Japanese Navy. Battlefield 1943 once again featured conquest mode where players would have to battle it out, work as a team and really utilize the class they are playing as to help their squad achieve victory. Once players reached 43 million kills in conquest mode, EA released a new mode called, Air Superiority.

One of the things that made Battlefield 1943 so much fun was that while it felt like a Battlefield game, DICE and EA really streamlined it. There were only three classes and there were only four vehicles. But rather than making the game feel limited, it made it feel must more straightforward and easy to jump into. We would bet that Battlefield 1943 for many people was what hooked them on the series as it was so easy to get into.

Battlefield 1943 was a huge hit and it was actually such a huge hit that in the early days of the game, the servers struggled to keep up with the demand. In 2009 it was the biggest selling downloadable game on Xbox Live and even now many Battlefield fans have fond memories of this game.

The History Of Battlefield Part 7: Battlefield Heroes

The History Of Battlefield Part 7: Battlefield Heroes

Our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers are the best way to experience Battlefield 1, but before that see just how the Battlefield series became as big as it is today with our history of Battlefield series.

Battlefield Heroes (2009) PC

2009 would see two Battlefield games released, the first one Battlefield Heroes was unlike anything else in the Battlefield series. This was aimed at a more casual audience and EA hoped that the ease of access and the fact it was free to play would result in bringing more people over to the Battlefield universe. This sounds a great idea in theory, but they also decided to make the game 3rd person!

Despite being in 3rd person, Battlefield Heroes features a kind of conquest mode. The idea is that each time has a set number of lives and flags. The idea is to drain the other team of all their lives while having more flags for your team. The class system from Battlefield was still here all be it in a more simplified and streamlined manner and you could still use vehicles during combat.

The games free to play model started out fair enough with players willing to put the time in actually being able to progress pretty far. But EA got a little greedy and changed the pricing structure of the game. So much that unless you were willing to spend hours and hours, grinding away, you had no choice but to spend real money in order to get better equipment. Despite this by the time EA closed the Battlefield Heroes servers in 215, around 10 million people had played the game.

Battlefield Heroes was an interesting idea and as it lasted so long, people were clearly into it. Perhaps had EA not been so greedy with the pricing model, it could have been even more popular?

The History Of Battlefield Part 6: Battlefield Bad Company

The History Of Battlefield Part 6: Battlefield Bad Company

We hope you are enjoying this little peek back at the history of Battlefield game. If you want to give yourself a real edge in Battlefield 1 or perhaps one of the older games, check out our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers.

Battlefield Bad Company (2008) PlayStation 3, Xbox 360

Once again developed by the good people at DICE, Battlefield Bad Company was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This was when DICE and EA really stepped up and brought Battlefield to console gamers.

Bad Company at the time of release was the most cinematic game in the Battlefield series. You played the role of Private Marlowe who is part of B Company a team who is sent in to do the dirty work before the other soldiers are sent in. Well through a lust for treasure, some bad luck, and some very bad timing, you end up unintentionally trespassing into another country, face a court martial, but still, want to find gold! It was a lot of fun and managed to rival what Activision had been doing with their single player campaigns in Call Of Duty.

When Battlefield Bad Company was released only one multiplayer mode was included, Gold Rush. It is an attacker vs defenders kind of game with attackers trying to get the gold and the defenders trying to stop them. It was fun, but due to demand, EA would add Conquest mode via DLC.

Battlefield Bad Company was released to mainly positive reviews and it sold very well. It really did cement the fact that Battlefield could be just as good and popular on console as it was on PC.

The History Of Battlefield Part 5: Battlefield 2142

The History Of Battlefield Part 5: Battlefield 2142

We hope you are enjoying this little peek back at the history of Battlefield game. If you want to give yourself a real edge in Battlefield 1 or perhaps one of the older games, check out our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers.

Battlefield 2142 (2005) PC

For the fourth game in the Battlefield series, DICE really changed things up and decided to take Battlefield into the future by setting the game in 2142. It was a very bold move for a game that was based more in reality and something Activision tried to do years later with Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare.

Battlefield 2142 actually has a really cool story and that is Earth has gone through another ice age and there is a war between the European Union and the Pan Asian Coalition who are now the two super powers in the world. Conquest returns and is similar to what you have played in past Battlefield games, but the big draw of Battlefield 2142 was Titan mode.

Not to be confused with Titanfall, but Titans are these giant war machines and each team has one. You need to destroy the other teams, Titan, all the while protecting yours. Like past Battlefield games, team work and picking the right class is the key to victory. Titan mode was a lot of fun and very popular at the time.

Battlefield 2142 was another home run for the people at DICE and EA. It sold well and was critically well received. EA would support the game with the Northern Strike DLC which was released in March 2007 and again like the original game was very well received.

The History Of Battlefield Part 4: Battlefield 2: Modern Combat

The History Of Battlefield Part 4: Battlefield 2: Modern Combat

Lock and load as we take a look at another game in the popular Battlefield series. Did you know that our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers can give you the ultimate edge and make Battlefield even more fun?

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (2005)

PlayStation 2, Xbox, Xbox 360 (2006)

By 2005, console gamers were desperate to get in on the Battlefield action (which nearly happened with Battlefield Vietnam) but it would take until 2005’s Battlefield 2: Modern Combat for this to happen. Originally the game was released on PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox. But in 2006 an enhanced port of the game with improved visuals and a little more content was released for the Xbox 360. It was said a port for the PlayStation Portable was also in development, but this was canceled.

DICE really did a lot of work on the single player mode of Modern Combat. The story was set around a war that was taking place between China and NATO. The story was very well written and while not super long, it was fun and at the time it was very well received with some people buying the game and only really playing the campaign.

DICE did give console gamers some online action. The PlayStation 2 and original Xbox both offered Conquest and Capture The Flag modes. While the multiplayer was not as in depth as what PC offered at the time. People did not complain and the game was a huge success with servers not being fully shut down until over a decade after the game was released!

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat was a very well received game on the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. It showed that there was still a little life left in these consoles yet, even though the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were ready to replace them.

The History Of Battlefield Part 3: Battlefield 2

The History Of Battlefield Part 3: Battlefield 2

Check out the latest installment in our history of Battlefield series. A series of games that our modded PS4 controllers, modded Xbox One controllers and modded PC controllers make even more awesome!

Battlefield 2 (2005) PC

DICE really outdid themselves with Battlefield 2 and many still regard it as one of the best games in the series. To start with they made many gameplay changes that really did emphasize the whole squad and team based gameplay that the series had become known for. With more classes, vehicles and the ability to create your own six man squad so that you can really work as a cohesive unit. Battlefield 2 was one of the most popular first person shooters online when it was released.

While DICE really stepped up the gameplay, the presentation as well saw a major facelift. Battlefield 2 looked incredible with better detail on the maps, characters and lighting effects that just blew people away. It was at this time people really started to take note of how DICE made such great looking games, a trend that continues to this day.

Battlefield 2 also featured a single player campaign that was set during a new World War that saw the China, the USA, Russia, and the EU coming to a head. It was actually very well received and proved that DICE could handle a great single player campaign alongside a fully loaded multiplayer.

Battlefield 2 was a monster of a game. It sold a ton of copies and would go on to be one of the best reviewed games of 2005. EA would support it with three different expansion packs, Special Forces, Euro Force and Armored Fury.
